Sponsors
Now entering its fifth season of play, the Yaletown Football Club (www.yaletownfootballclub.org) is expanding and now, more than ever, needs the backing of a sponsor. The club is currently seeking corporate sponsors to help with its various programs and to fund the non-profit team for the coming season.
Brief History
The club, which currently plays in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League, improved vastly in its fourth season – taking second place in its division – and now has plans to form an under-21 squad for the coming 2008/09 winter season. With its training squad, the club currently has 31 paid members ranging in age from 18 to 40, who hail from Yaletown, downtown Vancouver, Kerrisdale and as far as White Rock.
During the summer the YFC squad will compete in the Multicultural Soccer Association league. Goals for the club are many, the most pressing being the facilitation of an annual World Cup-style summer soccer tournament and workshops for children from the Yaletown community. The club has already partnered with both MoreSports (www.moresports.org) – a community organization which provides sports activities for local kids – and the Roundhouse Community Centre, providing volunteer coaches and referees for the community schools soccer program.
Ultimately, Yaletown FC hopes to make its mark on the Vancouver soccer community, not only in league action, but also in inspiring local youth in the pursuit of excellence on the soccer pitch.
