YFC Lose Away at IFC Polonia 3-1
YFC traveled to IFC Polonia with a squad consisting of some reserve players, since some of the first team were facing red card bans or injury. Ether way the boys started with the right intentions and played some good football to begin with. The game was fairly equal until a defensive mistake on the right hand side of the YFC defense allowed an IFC Polonia forward to break through free and simply blast the ball past the YFC keeper. Since YFC had started the game well, the boys didn’t let their heads drop and soon gained a penalty opportunity to tie things up. At this stage the game tying 1-1 would seem like a fair result. However YFC missed the penalty and this caused some heads to drop and the intensity levels drop. At the end of the first half where each side had their fair hare of chances, the game remained 1-0 to the home side.
YFC came out in the second half with a good attitude however Polonia were continuously putting YFC under more pressure. The pressure eventually paid off when from a corner three Polonia players were left unmarked and were able to blast the ball into the back post after a scrappy corner cross. YFC continued to work hard, however could have played smarter. Missing the regular first team squad was now clearly showing as YFC were unable to create any thorough chances and seldom put Polonia under any pressure.
Either way the boys gained a consolation goal with about 10 minutes to go after some tricky passing between the latin boys in and around the Polonia box. The game ended 3-1 which was a fair result.
