Sikh Temple 1 – 1 YFC

Last weekend YFC improved their play drastically against the division’s best, who lead the table by 3 points over UBC Metro. A first half goal from Sikh Temple came from nowhere. A looping cross from deep found the head of an on-rushing attacker who rainbowed the ball into the top corner with Sherman Lai perhaps thinking it would go over. YFC had started the match strong and were battling well and thankfully the goal only gave further incentive for them to push harder for their 1st goal in 4 games. A freekick was won soon after and Adam Jennings stepped up to curl a relatively innocuous shot straight into the keepers feet who flubbed it and allowed the ball to squeeze through his legs. YFC had finally broken their curse and scored their first goal in 5 matches!

There was no more scoring in the rest of the game, however it was definitely YFC who had the better chances throughout the second half. A number of great runs resulted in a few shots that just missed the second post and numerous freekicks were won after hard Sikh Temple challenges. The YFC defense played together as a unit and controlled Sikh Temple’s potent attack very well, the return of Adrian Moore to the midfield helped to lessen the blow of losing Jackson Castellanos for the rest of the season.

Jackson returned to Mexico last week and we wish him all the best, hes a great guy who really fit in well at the club not to mention being a brilliant footballer. We hope to see Jackson again in Vancouver in the near future.
